Raise your hand if you have not yet seen Inside Out 2!
We went – we would like to tell you to accompany young children or grandchildren – but that would just be a lie (and not even too white) and so we confess the truth: we went excited to get “excited” again with Riley and her small, colorful co-stars, an anthropomorphic version of the emotions that inhabit the mind of this little girl who has since grown up and become a little girl.
Expectations were high, but they were not disappointed!
In the first episode, Riley faces a crisis of Sadness after moving to a new city, culminating in her running away from home. This occurs because Joy and Sadness, two of her main feelings, have been expelled from the control center of her mind and wander back to base, contaminating memories and leaving Anger, Fear and Disgust in charge. This tale highlights how growing up means accepting that memories can be colored by sadness without it being a problem.
In Inside Out 2 Riley is 13 years old, has started a new life, has new friends, and, being good at field hockey, has been selected for a camp for a few days. If all goes well, she might make her dream team. However, with the onset of puberty, new emotions make their way into her mind: Embarrassment, Envy, Ennui (teenage boredom), and the one that will take over: Anxiety.
Following the pattern of the first film, the emotions in Inside Out 2 also strive hard for her well-being, stability, and the possibility of a peaceful life. And despite their nature, they try to help her: Sadness with its melancholy, Disgust with its aversion, Anger with its impetus, Fear with its worries, and excessively Joy with its positivity.
Our thanks to Inside Out 2
“Excited” and “grateful” -who knows if there will be a third episode in which Riley will also develop gratitude? – we decided to pay tribute to all the sentimental protagonists of the film by creating a leather version of them.
To do this, we selected from the Palmellato article color chart the shades that exactly resemble the nine emotions:
- Gioa – Palmellato, col. 4
- Anger – Palmellato col. 12
- Disgust – Palmellato col. 15
- Sadness – Palmellato col. 18
